DATE: Wednesday, April 3
TIME: 7pm – 8:30pm
LOCATION: Park Plates Restaurant, Elkins Park
Our popular Dinner with a Book event returns, featuring a delicious meal especially prepared for us by Chef Owen Lee at Park Plates Restaurant and served in the private dining room, which we will enjoy while participating in a book discussion led by Lynn Rosen.
The April Dinner with a Book features a discussion of Women Rowing North: Navigating Life’s Currents and Flourshing As We Age by Mary Pipher.
Mary Pipher is the author of ten books, including her New York Times bestselling book Reviving Ophelia: Saving the Selves of Adolescent Girls, a groundbreaking work about girls and adolescence.
In this conversation, we will look at how, in her newest book, she turns her attention to another stage of women’s lives. Her new book is a timely examination of cultural and developmental issues women face as they transition from middle age and contend with ageism, misogyny, and many kinds of loss. Yet, contrary to stereotypes, most older women are deeply happy and filled with gratitude for the gifts of life. Their struggles help them grow into the authentic, empathic and wise people they have always wanted to be.
Join us for a lively and delicious evening!
