TIME: 7pm
LOCATION: Hiway Theater, 12 Old York Road | Jenkintown, PA 19046
Ok, all you 80s aficionados, come on out of hiding, stop playing Pac-Man on your Commodore 64, and join us at the Hiway Theater for a celebration to get us all ready and warmed up for the upcoming new film, “Ready Player One” (yes, it’s based on a book!), opening in the end of March.
The cult classic “WarGames” factors high in the plot of “Ready Player One,” and there is a new restoration of the movie. To add to the fun, Jason Rekulak, author of The Impossible Fortress, itself a tribute to 80s days-gone-by, will be there to introduce the movie and he will conduct a Q&A after the film. He’ll sign copies of his book, which is a love letter to the 1980s and to nerds everywhere.
WarGames
A young computer whiz kid accidentally connects into a top-secret super-computer, which has complete control over the U.S. nuclear arsenal. It challenges him to a game and he innocently starts the countdown to World War 3. This enjoyable cult classic features Matthew Broderick’s first leading role – which hints at his future as Ferris Bueller.
