On Saturday, November 18, from 1pm to 4:45pm at Open Book Bookstore, we will celebrate books in translation from the Italian with guest booksellers, authors, and publishers!
1pm to 2pm: Guest Booksellers
Martha Cooley and Antonio Romani will be our guest booksellers. The authors, also a married couple, work together on Italian translations in addition to their own original work.
They will be joined as bookselling advisors by Jill Schoolman, Publisher
of Archipelago Books, known for their translated editions of international literature.
2pm to 3:15pm: Book Discussion
Antonio Romani will lead a group discussion of the short story collection
by Antonio Tabucchi, Time Ages in a Hurry. Come by ahead of time to pick
up a copy if you’d like to read the stories before the discussion!
3:15pm to 4:45pm: Meet the Publisher
Jill Schoolman will talk about how she founded Archipelago Books and developed their mission of translating fine literature from around the
world into English. She’ll also provide a sneak peek of their new line of children’s pictures books!
A wide selection of Archipelago titles will be available.
5pm to 6:30pm: Happy Hour with the Author
Join us at a private venue for happy hour and a book talk with author
Martha Cooley about her spectacular novel, The Archivist.
